يُمّثلُ هذا الكتاب محاولةً جادّةً مِن قِبَل الكاتب والأديب اليهوديّ المُتديّن يوسي كلاين هاليفي لتوضيحِ قضايا وأفكار في غايةِ الأهميّة بالنسبة للأمة اليهودية، فهو يوَضّحَ لجاره العربي والمسلم عموماً، والفلسطيني خصوصاً، لماذا يعتبرُ اليهودُ هذه الأرضَ وطناً لهم، ولماذا يجبُ على كلا الجانبين الفلسطينيّ والإسرائيليّ أن يَحترِما الروايات التاريخيّةَ والمطالبَ الوطنيّةَ المشروعةَ لكليهِما، ولماذا يجبُ عليهِما أن يستوعِبا ويتَكيّفا مع وجودِ بعضهِما البعضِ على هذه الأرض. كما ويوضح الكاتب أهمية مثل هذا الكتاب من أجل التعريف بقصّة الشعب اليهوديّ، خاصة بعد مضيّ قرابة قرن من الزمانِ مِن عُمرِ هذا الصراع، بالتالي آن الأوان لأن يقومَ كلّ طرف بتوضيحِ هويّتِهِ وروايته التاريخية للجانبِ الآخر، ولماذا هوَ موجود هُنا، وما هيَ طموحاتُه وآمالَهُ وتطلّعاتُهُ المستقبلية. بصريحِ العبارة: لقد آنَ الأوانُ لِكّي يتعرف الفلسطينيون والإسرائيليون على بعضِنا البعضِ عَن قُرب، وهذا أحد الكتب التي من شأنها أن تساعد كثيراً في التعريف بالهوية اليهودية للشعب اليهوديّ الإسرائيلي وكيف تعتبرُ هذه الأرض جُزءاً لا يتجزأ من الهوية الدينية والتاريخية اليهودية.

ومن الجدير بالذكر بأن المؤلف يوسي كلاين هاليفي لم يقُل بأي شكلٍ من الأشكال بأنه يملكَ حلّاً خلّاقاً للصراع الفلسطيني الإسرائيلي وهو لا يريدُ أن يوهِم أحداً بِذلك، فهو بنهاية المطاف كاتِبٌ وأديبٌ لا رجل سياسةٍ أو صانعَ قرار، بالتالي فإن مسؤوليّته ككاتبٍ تتجلّى في الكتابةِ والتعريف بهويّته الدينية والتاريخية بحسبِ طريقةِ فهمه لها، وهوَ الأمرُ نفسهُ الذي يتمناه يوسي هاليفي من جيرانه العرب والفلسطينيين: فهو يتمنى أن يبعثوا له بالرسائل التي تعرّفه بهويّتهم الفلسطينيّةِ وروايتهم التاريخية من وجهة نظرهم وحسب طريقةِ فهمِهم لها، على أمل أن  يكون هذا الكتاب والرسائل المتبادلة بين المؤلف وجيرانه من القُرّاء على الجانب الآخر نموذجاً يُحتذى بهِ في طريقةِ خلقِ حوارٍ مُتحضّر بين جانبين مُختلفين أثناءَ الصراع، وذلك من خلالَ إصغائِهم لبعضِهم البعض رغم الاختلاف، الأمرُ الذي من شأنهِ أن يقود الجانبين للمضيّ قدُماً في طريق خلقِ سياقٍ جديد ومُختلف كلياً لطبيعة العلاقة بينهما.
