Brief: Meet Ms. Wang Chenfei, a PhD candidate at the Center for Ideological and Political Education at Northeast Normal University, Changchun, China.
Ms. Wang Chenfei, Israeli named Hadar, is a one month guest scholar at the Dangoor Centre, Bar Ilan University, aiming to collect data for her research thesis.
“Before I come here, I just thought about a general comparative study between Israeli citizenship education and Chinese political education. But now, I found it a little bit complicated Over the past five days I went to Jerusalem and found that there are so many ethnic groups here. So I concentrate on the moral values of contemporary Israeli education. In China we have Chinese core values, 12 values together, like unity, friendship , hardworking, patriotic and so on. We accepted these education from school (especial curriculums), our family, and also via public media. It’s part of our citizenship education and part of our moral education. Now I’m trying to compare them with the multiculturalism in Israeli Education. Some of the questions I will challenge will be, among others, what are and are there any core values of Jewish people? And How school/family/government teach their young generation in Israel? I’m grateful to The Sir Naim Dangoor Centre and Danielle Gurevitch who are so supportive”.
