Mahatma Gandhi
On Wednesday, December 11th 2019 a conference on the theme of “Mahatma Gandhi – Celebrating his 150 Anniversary” was held at Bar Ilan University. An event, marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Indian nation, who dedicated his life on national and international level to propagate his message of non violent struggle. Dr. Danielle Gurevitch, Head of Dangoor Center welcomed the speakers and guests and emphasized the unique role of the Center in promoting such themes as interfaith, multiculturalism, non-violence and environmental ethics. Dr. Ithamar Theodor, Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee highlighted the unique point of view Gandhian Studies have taken in Israel, a point of view different than Gandhian Studies in both India and the West. The conference was engaged with five themes and these were History and Politics, Gandhian Philosophy, India, Israel and the Jewish World, Gandhi and Multi-Religiosity, and Environment, Society and Sustainability. The conference was co-organized by the Dangood Centre, Bar-Ilan University and the Dept. of Mysticism and Spirituality, Zefat Academic College
