The Sir Dr. Naim Dangoor Centre for Universal Monotheism

Asian languages students of the Multidisciplinary BA studies department gathered at the faculty of Humanities seminar room for Japanese calligraphy workshop held by Master Usuda Tosen (薄田東仙). That was the 10th visit of Master Usuda Tosen to Israel to teach Japanese calligraphy to Israeli students, and arrived to Bar Ilan as a guest lecture hosted by the Dangoor Centre. This year the workshop theme was “Japanese Calendar.”

Mrs. Miho Kataoka, the Japanese teacher at Bar-Ilan University, requested the students to choose in advance a Japanese character for their calendar. Master Usuda Tosen prepared templates for the choosing characters and guided the students in the delicate art of calligraphy. After hours of practice the students held a mini-exhibition of their 2019 Japanese calendars.
