On November 29, 2024, The Dangoor Centre at Bar-Ilan University hosted the 9th Korean Studies Workshop, a significant annual event that has fostered the growth of an academic community dedicated to Korean Studies in Israel. Over the years, this workshop has brought together lecturers, researchers, and students, creating a vibrant intellectual network for the exchange of knowledge and ideas.

Dr. Alon Levkowitz of the Asian Studies Department, underscored the workshop’s importance, stating: “We are building a Korean-Israeli academic community that enables students to enhance their research and receive support from scholars teaching about Korea in Israel.” This initiative has seen increasing student participation each year, as more students seek to present their research and deepen their understanding of Korea.

The generous support of Dr. Dangoor has been instrumental in sustaining this effort, providing crucial resources for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students specializing in Korean Studies. The success of the workshop also reinforces Bar-Ilan University’s Asian Studies Department as a leading hub for Asian Studies in Israel, showcasing its commitment to academic excellence and international collaboration.
