Opening Gala event for the Exhibition held at the Nano Technology Center, Bar Ilan University Israel between 13 Dec 2016- 13 March 2017 presenting the Sephardi Jews, Ashkenazi Jews and Jewish Refugees in Shanghai during World War II.
In 2017 The Dangoor Centre held the largest ever “Jewish Communities in China” Exhibition, displaying over 300 meters of documented materials that we initiated in collaboration with Prof. Pan Guang of the Jewish Heritage Centre in Shanghai.
Celebrating 25 years of Israel-Sino relations, Bar-Ilan University and the Embassy of China in Israel are launching a special exhibition on the Jewish Communities in Modern China under the auspices of the Sir Naim Dangoor Centre for Universal Monotheism.
The exhibition of photographs and documentary films, professionally designed by Mr. Wang Yue, portrays the lives of the Jewish communities that lived in China, particularly in Shanghai, over the last 100 years.
The exhibition was launched at a gala evening that took place on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, and was displayed at the Leslie and Susan Gonda (Goldschmied) Nanotechnology Triplex on the Bar-Ilan University campus in Ramat Gan for over three months.
The exhibition is a joint initiative of Dr. Danielle Gurevitch, Chairperson and the Chinese International Cultural Exchange Center (CICER), and special advisor the documentary film producer Jonathan Shen founder and CEO of Shinework Media.
Mr. Shen was honoured during the Olympics in Rio with the Global Business & Interfaith Peace Award from the United Nations for his remarkable contribution to promoting cultural diversity and interfaith understanding.
During the gala evening Mr. Cai Weimin, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Israel, announced that the launch of the exhibition was the first in a series of events marking 25 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and China.
